EdLab Studios (2006 – 2019) produced and published original multimedia to advance learning initiatives at Columbia University and beyond. Short-form, web-based video series appeared in publications including Teachers College Record, After Ed TV, and New Learning Times. Short and long-form documentary video showcased numerous educators, educational organizations, and educational research. As founder of EdLab Studios, Brian’s primary role was producer. His contributions on projects spanned all aspects of project development, production, and publishing.
EdLab Studios was the studio division of EdLab, a grant-driven organization which received funding for the following projects:

Seen in New York | Executive Producer
Published weekly on New Learning Times from 2013 – 2018, each 3-minute episode of Seen in NY (see selections from EdLab Studios on Vimeo) highlighted a non-traditional, forward-thinking educational opportunity in NYC. The “Ellis Island” episode is emblematic of the series’ persistent themes of democracy, community, and personal journeys. (232 episodes)
Learning Theater Spotlight | Executive Producer
The video series Learning Theater Spotlight features events, event creators, and event production in the Smith Learning Theater from 2017 – 2019. Events often take the form of immersive learning experiences, blending cutting-edge technology with scripted or improvised experiences designed to achieve educational goals. (43 episodes)
